Whitehill Commemorates the 80th Anniversary of VE Day

It was wonderful to see so many of our staff and children at Whitehill marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. The day was filled with engaging activities, from dressing up in period-inspired outfits to listening to wartime music and taking part in a range of fun, educational activities.

During assembly, pupils had the opportunity to watch historic Pathe footage from the time, helping bring history to life. We explored why people across the world paused to celebrate on May 8th, 1945, and reflected on the sacrifices made by so many to achieve peace across Europe.

VE Day offered our children a meaningful chance to connect with history and understand the importance of remembrance. Families can continue these conversations at home by watching and discussing related videos together, helping children appreciate this pivotal moment in history even further.
